Hennessey Venom GT Spyde

I can tell you from experience there's no missing the sound of the 1,200-hp twin-turbo V8 Hennessey Venom GT from inside the cockpit, but that's not stopping the Texas company from removing the car's top in pursuit of even more glorious decibels with their 2013 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder. Here's a first look.

Seriously, take a moment to listen to itwarming up at Goodwood. It's not loud so much as it's, well — let's put it this way — if Judgement Day should come while you're within a few miles of the Venom GT you might miss Gabriel blowing his horn.

"With the hardtop in place, the Venom GT offers a very visceral, raw, driving experience," says Hennessey CEO Don Goldman. "With the hardtop removed, the wind and the growl of the twin-turbo V8 will offer our clients an even greater driving sensation."

I don't doubt it, although if you're a hat collector and a car collector you'd be wise to not showcase both simultaneously.

Hennessey says they're planning to produce five Venom GTs for the 2013 model year. Two have already been spoken for, including this gorgeous black-on-black Spyder. The fixed-roof hardtop costs $950,000 while the GT Spyder will set you back $1.1 million.

Thankfully, it's a removable top, so you're not stuck running for the garage in a rainstorm, although in the Venom GT you can probably outrun the rain.
