When the ink dried and the 2 executives exchanged congratulatory comments last Spring, many doubted that VOLVO will ever make strides in its quirky yet unique car design initiatives now the auto maker is part of China’s largest conglomerate, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. With the VOLVO Concept Universe, VOLVO’s new owner hopes to change those preconceived notions. A nod to classic Scandinavian Design and past VOLVO’s triumphs, the VOLVO Concept Universe sets the tone for all future VOLVO designs. While many of its features are not widely available yet, like its oversized touch-screen center console and its Ming-dynasty inspired porcelain inlays, its a showcase platform on what would be feasible in the next decade. Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, added during the unveiling in Auto Shanghai Motor Show, “The Concept Universe offers the world a sneak preview of what people can expect from our next top-of-the-line sedan…” The VOLVO Concept Universe is currently on display at Auto Shanghai.

At the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2011, Volvo Car Corporation visualises a masterpiece of Scandinavian Design for car buyers with exquisite tastes. The Concept Universe is a large, luxurious sedan with a new human-centric design language that honours the beautiful lines of classic Volvo models.
